Buying Pets for children

Question

Is it allowed to buy pets (kitten, birds) for your child?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for you to purchase pets for your child as long as you make sure that the pets are taken good care of and not tortured in any way.

You should explain to your children the importance of being kind to animals and advise them to abstain from torturing or causing nay harm to any animal.
