Taqdeer

Question

Assalamu alaikum

I am becoming in despair daily now, since my calamity has befallen me 2months ago. I daily supplicate and make duaa to Allah, in sajdah, raising my hand, on Friday prayer after adhan, in Tahajjud prayer yet my calamity keeps on worsening over time.

I do know that Allah will answer your duaa in either three ways. 1.Either he will grant you on what the believer supplicated for ,  2. or the duaa will be answered/reward in the Hereafter, 3. or something bad will be prevented from him equal to the value of his Dua.

I am unfortunatly becoming despair now because my situation is worsning and I fear for my Imman now as I daily get very negative thoughts now. What can I to be hopefull.

Please make duaa for me that Allah will relieve me from my calmity and reward me for my loss and patience.

Jazaku Allah Khair

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Answer:

Our Imān is on Taqdīr. That is to believe that Allāh knows everything about our future as well. We do not know what our future holds for us. Therefore, we live a life between two valleys of hope and fear. At times the valley of hope is deeper and at times the valley of fear is deeper. At times both are similar and that situation is more challenging as you do not know which valley you will pass.

After adopting all means to be successful in our endeavors, the only consolement for us is to submit to Taqdīr. We believe only that will happen which Allāh has decided for us. In that case, there is no reason to be despondent.

We get rewarded for our worldly efforts. We also get rewarded to submit to Taqdīr. A believer is therefore always successful. There is no absolute failure in anything. The worldly loss is not a failure. Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam has explained this in one Hadīth:

إِنَّ أَمْرَهُ كُلَّهُ خَيْرٌ (صحيح مسلم، بَابُ الْمُؤْمِنُ أَمْرُهُ كُلُّهُ خَيْرٌ)

There is goodness in every condition of a believer. (Sahīh Muslim)

Brother, you did not state what challenge you are facing. Whatever it is, continue your Duās and Dhikr. Adopt all possible and permissible means to address your challenge. Consult with appropriate people and submit to Taqdīr. We make Duā Allāh grant you peace and happiness.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best

Mufti Ebrahim Desai.

Clarification

The Darul Iftaa has received queries regarding Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb’s teaching and affiliation with Madrassah In’aamiyya, Camperdown. The confusion is probably due to the previous Fatawaa and Google searches of Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb issued under the name of Darul Iftaa, Madrassah In’aamiyyah, Camperdown.

Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb has resigned from Madrassah In’aamiyya two years ago and has no affiliation with Madrassah In’aamiyya, Camperdown.

Mufti Saheb has established the Darul Iftaa in Durban that facilitates for post-Ulama courses and training Mufti’s. He teaches Hadeeth at Darul Uloom Nu’maniyyah.
