Title

Is it permissible to sit on a table and eat?

Question

Is it permissible to sit on a table and eat? If yes then could I have a proof or if no could I have a proof as well jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

In principle, it is permissible for one to sit and eat on a table. However, we should try to emulate the Prophet sallallahualaihiwasallam as much as possible and it has been narrated that he never dined at a table.[1]
