Title

Which Itr (Perfume) did Nabī Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam use?

Question

What Is The Sunnah Way Of Using Attar (Perfumes)? And Which Is The That Prophet S.A.W Used?

Answer

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We were unable to locate the precise method of the application of Itr by Nabī Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam.

However, it is reported by Aishah Radhiyallāhu Anhā in a Hadīth of Sahīh al-Bukhāri that Nabī Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam loved to initiate all his activities from the right side whether it pertained to wearing shoes, combing hair, or performing Wudhu.[1] From this Hadīth, it may be concluded that it is a Sunnah to apply Itr first onto the right hand.

It is reported in a narration that Nabī Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam used to apply the perfumes musk and amber. [2]
