Title

Is it a part of Sharīah to clean the kitchen in the morning before cooking?

Question

I want to know whether it is in the Sharīah to clean the kitchen in the morning before cooking? And is it necessary to clean the vessels immediately after eating? Cannot the used vessels be kept overnight and cleaned in the morning?  I have heard that leaving the utensils unwashed for a long time leads to lesser rizk.  Is it true?  Please provide an answer.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Cleanliness is an essential part of a believer’s faith.  Nabī Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said:

“Purification is half of Imān.” (Sahīh Muslim, Sunan Al-Tirmidhī)[1]

Even though it is not necessary to clean the kitchen before cooking or to clean the utensils immediately after use, a believer should endeavor to bring cleanliness and proper hygiene into his/her domestic life.
