Title

Is it permissible for women to visit cemeteries?

Question

I just would like to know Is it allowed in Islam for women to visit the Kabrasthan to see their mother or father's Kabr and is it allowed for them to make Ziyarath in islamic way..

Waht islam says about this?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for a woman to visit the graveyard on condition she strictly adheres to the laws of hijab and go with the intention of reminding herself of death. If a woman does not adhere to the laws of hijab or she violates other laws of Shariāh when visiting the graveyard for example, there is an intermingling of genders or she goes to the graveyard to refresh her grief and sorrow, then it is prohibited. .[i] .[ii]
