Title

Can more than one Aqeeqah be performed?

Question

Hi i have read alot about aqeeqah, however one question i have which i cant find the answer.  Can more then one Aqeeqah be informed.  So for instance, if i did the aqeeqah on the 7th day.  However the mothers parents could not make it.  Could they do something similar on the 14th day? if so what would this be called and would it be considered as a second aqeeqah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu `alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1. If the Aqeeqah was performed on the seventh day, it is valid.[1]

2. The presence of the mother’s parents is not a requirement for the validity of Aqeeqah. Therefore, there is no need to do the Aqeeqah again.

And Allah knows best.
