Question

Allah SWT forgives all sins through sincere taubah. If a person has missed a lot of prayers (namaz) and fasts, why does a person have to perform qaza umri and those missed fasts. Why can't a person just do sincere taubah for these. Will a person burn in hell if he didn't perform qaza namaz and fasts.

An alim told me husband and wife are not allowed to wear skimpy clothing in front of each other. I'd like to know why a wife can't wear miniskirts or tight jeans in front of her husband if it will help him to lower his gaze outside the house?

Jazakallah.

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

If a person missed out a salaat, it will be wajib for him to make qaza of whatever he missed. By making taubah one is not excused from offering the qaza salaats. However, by making taubah, he is forgiven from the sin which he committed by missing out the salaats. Now if he does not make qaza of these salaats, the sin wil return to him. One of the first things to be reckoned for on the day of Qiyamah will be salaat. If this is correct then everything else will be correct and if this is incorrect, then a person will be from amongst the losers.

(Bahishti Zewar Zam Zam)

(Sunan At Tirmizi)

It is permissible for the wife to wear clothing to please her husband within the confines of her bedroom. However, it is important to mention that hayaa (modesty) has been emphasized upon greatly in Shari’ah. Modesty is a noble characteristic which should be brought into every aspect of life. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said:

"Indeed, surely people will come to know the words of prophethood. If you do not have shame, then do as you wish.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, P. 183, Dar Al-Fikr)

"Modesty is from Iman, and Iman leads you to Paradise. Shamelessness is from futile things, and futile things lead you to the fire of Hell. (Sunan Al-Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, P. 21, HM Saeed)
