Title

Is it permissible to shave the public hairs while in periods(menses)?

Question

Is it permissible to shave the public hairs while in periods(menses)?

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

The pubic hair should be removed before the elapse of 40 days.  Imam Muslim in his Sahih narrates:

Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) stipulated the time for trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the private parts, that it should not exceed forty days. (Sahih Muslim)

To remove the pubic hair in the state of impurity is disliked, but if one is afraid that 40 days will elapse then it is permissible to remove the public hair in the state of menses.

Al-Fatawa al-Hindiya

 And Allah knows best
